Sir:-- Your letter would have received a more prompt reply, but Mr. Empy lives some 80 miles north of this City, and I could not learn, until recently, what he had to say in relation to your a/c against him. A few days since Mr. Empy called upon me and stated that he paid the bill you claim, and that he would write to you at once, and mention some circumstances connected with the trade from which he thought you would be able to call to mind his faving paid you as he states to me.
