Br. John Oldfield,
Fairfield, Cedar Valley, U.T.,

Dear Brother:-

A Draft for £30 was forwarded to Pres. A. Calkin, Jan. 5 1860, favor of John Oldfield. On the back of said draft it was made payable, by John Oldfield, to Martha Hernan, and her address given. On the 24th of Feb. br. Calkin advised me of the receipt of said draft but, much to my surprise, added that he did not understand what disposition to make of it. I replied by first return mail, April 12, giving br. Calkin further particulars, and calling his attention to the back of the draft. I regret the delay occasioned by the singular misunderstanding at the Liverpool Office, but still trust that the matter has been understood in time for this season's emigration.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
