Edward Frost,
Fillmore, U.T.,

Dear Bro.:-- In reply to your note of 5th inst., I have to inform you that I know of no way to gain and maintain a creditable standing in this community, enjoy the influence and teachings of the Holy Spirit, and disarm the power of evil disposed persons, except by constantly and faithfully living the religion you profess.

In so doing you gain and retain the confidence of all good men, escape the power of the wicked, and enjoy the protecting care of our Father in Heaven, who is far mightier than all enemies.

May the Lord bless you in the faithful discharge of all duties.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
