Nov. 14th 1860.

Instructions to Elder Amos M. Musser.

Dear Brother:-You are hereby appointed traveling Agent for the General Tithing Office to visit the settlements in Utah and Juab Counties, and those in Sanpete County so far as you can, to examine and adjust the tithing books and papers of the bishops -- to give them and their clerks all the information necessary to keep their books correctly and how to make out their annual accounts and reports for the General Tithing Office, and to see that the tithing grain and vegetables are properly stored and taken care of, and regularly forwarded to the General Tithing Store the first opportunity.

You are authorized to collect, from time to time, all church monies in the hands of the bishops, and deliver the same, to their credit, at the Trustee in Trust treasury as soon thereafter as possible.

It shall be your duty to ascertain the amount of Church stock, butter, cheese, eggs, poultry and such other articles, at each settlement, and to have the same collected and regularly forwarded to the General Tithing Store. It will be necessary for the bishops to have their names painted upon their butter tubs and egg boxes so that no mistake may occur at the General Tithing Store in crediting them with the proper amounts. You shall take an account of the stock paid on tithing and of the prices allowed therefor by the bishops, also an account of stock paid to the P.E. Fund and on indebtedness to the church and see that all said stock is forwarded whenever convenient.

As it has been the custom to read to the General Conference the aggregate amount of the tithing received as a satisfaction to the saints: in order to carry out the same principle in the various wards, you are directed to read to the Saints in each ward the detailed annual report made out by their bishop, before it is forwarded to the

General Tithing office.
