G. S. L. City, Sep. 24, 1861.

Bishops C. W. West, Alfred Cordon, A. Nichols, and Peter Maughan,

Dear Brethren:-The bearer, br. John L. Blythe, is visiting your settlements in search of mission horses, and I will esteem it a favor if you will aid him, so far as may be in your power, in prosecuting his search.

Br. Blythe will give you the particulars, &c., concerning the animals he is in quest of. Should he succeed in finding one or more of said animals, I would also be pleased to have you aid him in procuring information as to how they came in the possession of the person or persons with whom he may find them.

The alterations in the Tabernacle are rapidly progressing toward completion, and we expect to have all in readiness for use at our next Conference, should rough weather drive us from the bowery.

All our immigrating companies have arrived, except br. Johnson's.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
