Dear Brother,

You will forthwith raise Thirty (30) men of your command for service guarding
the overland Mail and Telegraph on requisition of President Young made by the President of the United States. The service is for ninety (90) Days or until relieved by U. S. Troops and will be paid as other forces of the Government. You will also furnish one wagon and team with four animals for each ten and report yourself in this city to morrow eveningn ready for service to be organized as then directed, bring good rifles, Yaugers or double barrelled
shot guns and pistols, where you have them an ammunition for 100 pounds to each man, also bedding for the men and rations for all you can not exceeding thirty days.
