Sister Jones,

I have received a letter from our Agent in Liverpool explaining the nature of the notes you presented to me in April last for examination. I <now> hereby authorize brother J. B. Maiben to receive them from you, [gap in typescript] the amount may be collected for the benefit of Brother Samuel Shipton, who loaned the money to brother Dan Jones to assist in emigrating such of the Saints as were deemed worthy, and which brother Jones agreed to refund to his so soon as he received the pay from the people.
