Dear Brother:

Your favor of Feb. 27 is to hand. Our experience in letting out thithing grain has been very unpleasant and unprofitable, and aside from that we have <no> tithing <grain> of any kind to spare, nor nearly as much as we want, and of course cannot accomadate you with the loan you desire.

If the brethren can buy for us an equel amount of wheat, barley and oats nearer this City than is the tithing grain in your Valley, I will exchange with them bushel for bushel, thus benifitting both parties, which is all the accomodation in the case that our circumstances will warrant us in extending.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
