Professor Joseph Henry,
Secretary Smithsonian Institution.,

Washington City, D. C.

Dear Sir,

Your favor of May 3rd, 1864, in which you state that the Smithsonian Institution is desirous of obtaining vocabularies of the various Indian dialects and that you had transmitted several copies of a pamphlet to me containing instructions for collecting information respecting the Indian tribes, and also blank forms of a vocabulary, has just been received. The pamphlets and blank forms have not been received.

I shall take great pleasure in complying with the wishes of the Institution, and will distribute the papers as you request when they reach here.

As soon as I can obtain any copies of vocabularies, which have been published here, I will transmit them to the Institution.

I remain very respectfully Yours

Brigham Young
