John and Robert Thornley
Smithfield, Cache Co.

Dear Brethren:

Your favor of Jan. 16 respecting the emigration of John and Thornley has been received. I cannot say why they have not come this year. money was placed to their Credit in Liverpool until they should be ready to emigrate, and it is still to their credit there.

I cannot receive anything but gold towards emigration, as it is gold that has to be paid for ships and passages by our emigrating agents. There will be no teams sent down this year to the Frontiers to bring the poor across the plains to this point, as we have been in the habit of doing these few years past. Those who come through this Year will have to come through by their means which they possess, or by having it sent to them by their friends here.

With love I remain Your Brother
