Miss Augusta B. Jackson
 San Bernardino,

Dear Sister:--

Your note of Jan. 15th came duly to hand, and I am pleased to learn from it of your journey and safe arrival home. We felt some anxiety respecting you, which your letter has relieved. The weather was so cold and stormy that we thought you would be likely to suffer. I trust that yourself and parents and all the family are in the enjoyment of good health. My wife Ellen, who was sick when you were here, also Sister Gibson have both died. Their deaths were pleasant and indeed joyful, they welcomed death as a happy release from their sufferings and both dropped off as though falling asleep. The health of my family is pretty good, though my daughter Zina has had a dangerous attack of lung fever, which, for a few days, we feared would result in quick consumption, but she is now recovering.

With kind regards to your parents and to yourself, I remain

Your Brother in the Lord
Brigham Young
