To Tabby and Toquer-oner, my good Friends in Uinta Valley:

We have heard of the cold weather you have had this Winter, and how you have suffered and lost your horses. Our hearts have been very sorry at this news, and we would have sent you help, but could not for the deep snow. We want you to come in from Uinta to Great Salt Lake City and see us. We want to say Peace to you, and have you say Peace. This fighting and killing ought to be stopped. You have ears and will hear our talk. The Mormons are the friends of the Indians and do not want to hurt them, and we do not want the Indians to kill any of us or to steal our stock.

P. S. We want Tabby to bring in all the good Utes to Provo, and the Superintendent will talk to them and give them provisions.
