Dear Brother:

You had better appoint a Deputy to take <care> of the Post Office at Parowan, and go over to Piaute and Sevier Counties yourself. You should be particular in urging upon the people the necessity of providing themselves with arms and ammunition to defend themselves against the Indians.

Proper measures should also be taken to secure the stock, so that the Indians cannot get a single head.
