Dear Brother,

Your letter of July 22nd has just been received. I have not yet received any word from Bro. Miles upon the subject of your release. The first intimation I have had of it I have received through your own letter.

As you state that you have had a generous offer of assistance to enable you to return the difficulty of obtaining the necessary means that you need to travel being thereby removed, it would be better for you to come home.

Your exertions, if well directed when you reach here, will enable you to obtain business of some kind that will sustain yourself and wife.

The folks are all well, and are doing well, and seem to be happy and contented. Everything is prosperous here. We have had considerable rain this season -- more than we have had any previous season since our settlement here. The grain in this country to have We had a cool spring and the weather continued to be cool into early Summer but we have had very hot weather for several weeks At the present and for a few days past the weather has been more agreeable.

Do all the good that you can in preaching and bearing testimony, and seek to keep alive and increase within you the testimony of the Spirit and the power of the Holy Priesthood which you have received

Your mother and wife and Charlotte all join me in love to you.
Praying the Lord to bless you, I remain,

Your Brother,

Brigham Young
