Gt. Salt Lake City,
September 15th, 1866

Mr. J. W. Fox

Sir:

Your note of the 13th has been received, and would have been answered earlier, but press of business, consequent upon an absence from the City, has prevented.

I have so many applications for assistance from one and another that I find myself in such a position that I am compelled to decline extending help only in cases of pressing necessity, Yours does not seem to be one of those cases, as not being able to secure an engagement at the Theatre, I should judge that you would still be able to turn to some other business. At present labor can be easily obtained here, the supply not being equal to the demand.

Respectfully,

Brigham Young
