F. A. Head Esq.,
Supt. of Indian Affairs,

Dear Sir:-

In the settlement of my accounts as Superintendent of Indian Affairs with the Indian Department at Washington, in July last, the Commissioner decided that $3.00 per day was too high to pay for the services of a clerk, and disallowed part of the amount.

Your acquaintance with business here, and the prices we have to pay for clerk hire, as well as your experience in the office of Superintendent, will entitle your evidence to weight with the Department. Am I asking too much of you to write a statement of what you know respecting this matter?

Respectfully Yours

Brigham Young
