Dear Bro:-

I find from our books that on the 16 Dec. 1864, you requested the $40.00 sent to Mary Ann Gage, to be returned from Liverpool, as she did not wish to emigrate; and that on the 22 August of this year the amount was paid to you. It will take $40.00 coin to emigrate a single person from Liverpool to Wyoming. The President does not intend to send any teams east for emigration the coming season.
