Dear Brother:

Your letter of Dec. 29th, respecting the emigration of your neices, has been received. I have so many calls upon me of this kind, that, with the many other duties which I have to attend to, I find it impossible to comply with them. It is much easier for the brethren, who wish their folks brought on, to convert the property they have to dispose of into money than it is for me to do it for them. It is money that is required. When I send the money to pay for their passage, as shipowners and provision merchants will not furnish ships or provisions for any thing else but money; neither will Rail Roads Agents take anything but money for the people they carry on their Lines. You can readily see how I situated, and I need not add any thing more.

With love,
Your Brother,

Brigham Young
