Dear Sir:
Your favor of the 11th instant, respecting the proper localities at which to open Real Estate Offices in this Territory, has been received.

We are not yet in such a condition in this country as to sustain such an Office as you propose. There is comparatively little doing in Real Estate here. Outside of this City, scarcely a transfer of improvements is ever made with money for a consideration. Money is very scarce, and purchases are made by exchange of property. Our land has never been sold to us by the General Government, and therefore we can only sell the right of possession and the improvements, and not the land.

Respectfully,

Brigham Young
