Gt. Salt Lake City,
February 2nd, 1867.

O. H. Palmer, Esq.,
Treasurer Western Union Telegraph Co. New York.

Dear Sir:
I have drawn a Draft upon you in favor of Brigham Young, Jr., for Eight Hundred Dollars ($800,00/100) which I shall feel obliged if you will honor upon presentation. My son is on his way to Europe, and will probably remain in your City a few days.

I hope that you will not refuse to honor this Draft, and such others as I may draw hereafter, until the amount due me is paid. I have been much mortified at the course which has been taken with my Drafts, in their being returned to me protested. I performed the work according to Contract, and have thought that, under the circumstances, I was entitled to different treatment to that which I have received. There are several thousands of dollars yet due me on the accounts rendered by me to the Company; besides, I have built Sixty Miles North and Fifty Miles East for which I have not handed in my Account as yet.

I am much pleased that the Second wire is stretched across the Continent, and think it will be sure to prove a success.

Respectfully,

Brigham Young
