Dear Sir:-Under date of Dec. 1st 1866 you wrote me a note enclosing an advertisement for Joseph Halford, which the Agent of our Government in Egypt, Hon Charles Hale, had sent to you. I have made inquiries and have advertized for Mr Halford, but thus far have been unable to obtain any information respecting him.
