Gentlemen:

Hon. Wm. H. Hooper, Delegate to Congress from our Territory, who has just returned home, informs me that he had very satisfactory interviews with you on the subject of the unsettled business connected with the contract for the furnishing of Poles for the New Telegraph Line. I would have sent Mr. Hooper a Power of Attorney to settle up this business for me; but I did not wish to detain him in the East. As Hiram B. Clawson, Esq. is going East on business I have appointed him my Attorney to settle this business. He is thoroughly conversant with the details, and can give full explanations upon all points connected with the accounts. Permit me to bespeak your kind offices in his behalf.

I remain, Gentlemen,
Respectfully,

Brigham Young
