Dear Brother:

Your letter of April 15th, came to hand while I was absent on a missionary tour to Saint George with the President. Since my return I have made inquiries respecting the death of your son, and am informed by Bro. H. Petersen, the man with whom your son was residing at the time of his death, that he has written you three letters since the death of your son, and addressed them to No. 22 North Tenth St. between First and Second St. Williamsburg, N.Y. He wrote you again under date of June 5th, and I presume has sent it to the address to which he sent his former letters. The bishop of the place where your son died writes me that he was killed by his wagon overturning and the wood with which it was loaded falling upon him. He was very much lamented and Bro. Peterson and family mourned his death as much as though he had been their own son; in fact the whole settlement was plunged in sorrow as he was a young man who was much respected by all who knew him.

Praying that the consolations of the holy spirit may rest upon you
I remain
Your Brother

Geo. Q. Cannon
