June 14th, 1867.

Mr. A. Root,
Pleasant Grove.

Dear Brother:

Your letter of the 10th inst. on the subject of your trouble through your wife leaving you, has been received. It is not clear to me, from your letter, whether your wife alone has left you, or whether she has taken the children also. If she has left the children and gone alone, you need not give yourself any trouble; but take care of the children and make arrangements to the best of your ability, for their comfort and your own. Should she have the children, you should see after them and do the best you can for them. If your wife has abandoned herself to evil, you should not give way to despondency or despair on that account; but do right yourself, and take a course to save yourself and those who are dependent upon you.

With love, I remain
Your Brother
