Bishop W.W. Cluff,
Coalville, Summit Co.,

Dear Brother,

Your favor of the 2nd instant, about Mountain calling upon you, accompanied by Isaac Potter as Interpreter, has been received.

I do not wish to do anything myself for the Indians, and can not advise you to do anything for them under the circumstances which they have come to you. We have no confidence in Potter. If the Indians want Flour and Beef, let Tabby come himself or send Indian Joe, or some other Indian whom we know, and we <will> let them have what they can want, or what we can spare.

Your Brother,

Brigham Young
