Dispute

Great Salt Lake City,
July 11th, 1867.

At a meeting, held at Little Cottonwood, on Sunday, July 7th, 1867, I publicly contradicted President Brigham Young in a statement which he made in regard to a piece of property which he made me a present of. He stated, in his remarks, that he gave me a piece of land. This statement was correct. He did give me a farm. But I was angry and excited, and supposing that he referred to my distillery, Dwelling house, &c., I contradicted him, For doing so I am very sorry, as it was ungentlemanly and wrong, and I have asked his forgiveness therefor; and that full amends may be made, I make this acknowledgment, that as my contradiction was public the apology may be equally so.
