Dear Sister:

A Thomas Smith of Auburn, Baker Co., Oregon, has written to me about a boy by the name of Wm. Parkinson, who he tells me is a nephew of yours. The boy's father died, and left his son in the said Smith's charge, who had himself appointed guardian by the County Court. He had always been, he says, a remarkably good boy; but he has recently formed the acquaintance of an Irishman and <has> ran away with him. He thinks the Irishman is making his way to New Mexico, and he sends the boy's likeness through that he may be identified and stopped, as he thinks they may pass through here. By his request I forward you this information.

Your Brother,
Brigham Young
