Mr. Francis E. King,
Manti, San Pete Co.

Dear Brother:

Your letter of the 14th inst. has reached me, You say that there is quite a quantity of wheat in the Sevier Valley which yourself and the brethren wish to go and gather. There is no objection to this, if the brethren will take a few teams and a reaper and thrashing machine and go up and gather the grain, and make a good, thorough business of it. But in going, they should be sufficiently numerous to be safe, and be well-armed. In going and returning, and while gathering the grain there should be a good guard and close watch maintained.

The people should not go back to Glenwood or to any other point on the Sevier until they are told to do so from head quarters.

Your Brother,
Brigham Young
