Bp. A. Cahoon,
Little Cottonwood Ward.

Dear Brother:

A sister Anna Smith, the wife of William Smith of your ward has applied to me by your advice, as she states, for a divorce. She says that he has grossly abused her -- beaten her and pulled her hair while she was in the family way. I have given her the bill of divorce, which I herewith enclose for him to sign. She has two children, and you will please see that he affords her the means for the maintenance of herself and children to the extent of his ability.

Your Brother
Brigham Young
