September 27th, 1867.

Mr. Orlando Rounds,
Dexter, Jefferson Co. New York.

Dear Sir:

Your letter of inquiry respecting Stephen Chase and his wife Orry Ann was duly received, and I have written to a gentleman who, I thought, would be likely to know about the family, and have received from him the following particulars, which I herewith send you.

"Stephen Chase, the old gentleman, died in Nauvoo, I think in 1843. The old lady died in G S L City, I believe in 1852. Eli died about the same time of consumption. He left four children, three girls and one boy. Two of the girls are married and live in Lower California; the other one is married and lives in Cache Co. Utah. She married Ammon Pitkin. The boy, Eli, lives I think, lives with his mother at Payson, Utah Co., who is married to George Garner of San Bernardino. Mary Chase, daughter of Stephen and Orry Ann, died in G. S. L. City. She was married to one of Noah Packard's sons. I believe
she left three children. Darwin went from Galena, Ills. to California, I think in 1850, and joined the California Volunteers, At the commencement of the war he came out to Utah and received a fatal wound in a battle with the Indians on Bear River and died in two or three days after. He left no family. Hiram Chase, the youngest son, lives in Upper California, but at what place I do not know.

Respectfully.
