Bp. David Brinton,
Big Cottonwood Ward.

Dear Brother:

Two wives of a man by the name of Nostrand, and who is sometimes called Hans Olsen, have come to my office and represented their case. They complain of his neglect in furnishing them any aid in sustaining themselves, and that he does not furnish them with a suitable home, though before marriage he showed them means that he had with which he promised to build them comfortable places to live in, but which he now says he wants to keep to go down to Jackson Co. with.  They have been working this summer, but now they want some assistance towards a living. They do not wish to leave him, but they wish him to render a husband's part to them. Their names are Johanna Jacobsen and Martha Petersen. Please investigate this matter and see that he does what he can to make the women
comfortable.

When men take wives they should also make their calculations to bear the increased responsibilities connected therewith and take care of those who repose confidence in them. There is entirely too much laxity on the part of many persons in such matters.

Your Brother
