Dear Brother:

This morning I received a letter from a man by the name of George Walker, dated St Louis, September 16th. He formerly belonged to the Church. He says he writes by this mail to you to obtain a deed for a plot of land purchased from you, Daniel S. Miles and Thomas Whittle on the appanoose Ferry Road near the La Harpe Road, containing about four acres and a half part of S1/2. 32.7N. 8W. 320 acres from Messrs. Savage of Quincy, Ill's. The lot was transferred by one Joseph Patten who went with him to your house and had it entered on the book in his name; and you gave him a certificate that the money was all paid, and that you would give him a deed when the whole tract was sold, or as soon as you got the deed from Messrs. Savage. He says that he never received the deed, and the troubles at Nauvoo and the dispersion of the Saints occurring soon afterwards he did not know where the parties could be found. If you could give him a deed he would like to have it forwarded to him. Probably you will have it in your power to make out such a deed as he wants. He says that he will pay ten dollars on receipt of a deed properly executed.
