Dear Sir:

Your favor of this morning's date has just been opened by President Young. As he has an appointment which calls him away, he has instructed me to reply to your letter.

There are a great many mechanics, clerks and professional men in this community, who labor at one thing and another, who are anxious to obtain employment at business more congenial to their education and past habits. This they can not obtain, as our Settlements are new and there is but a very limited demand for such services as they could render. He desires me to say that he has no vacancy in any of the branches of business which he carries on. There is less demand for business men in the Fall of the year than at other seasons, as cold weather causes the total suspension of many branches.

Respectfully,
Geo. Q. Cannon
