Bishop John Sharp,

Dear Bro.

To-day I was waited upon by G.W. Dean. U.S. Coast Survey & other gentlemen with a view to obtain my aid in erecting an observatory to be built without delay. I have assured them what they wanted should be forth-coming.

Now I have to request that you look me out 2 Stones of the following dimensions:-- One to be 5 ft long. 2 ft 10 in wide. and 1 ft thick. the other 5 ft long and 1 ft 10 in. square. They must be of fine, clear, sound sandstone, susceptible of being dressed where required to a very fine face. My teams will be there for them on Wednesday noon. I hope you will give this matter your prompt attention, get them out & load them when the teams arrive.

Yours in the Gospel.
Brigham Young
