Dear Sir:-
Your letter to me of the 13th inst. I have read with some interest. I would recommend you to cultivate the accquaintance of Wm. H. Miles, 117. John St. N.Y. or any of our elders who will cheerfully inform you
on all matters pertaining to our holy religion; to the extent of their knowledge.

As to assuring you of obtaining a living here; the Latter-day Saints who partake of the spirit of the gathering have no mistrust on that point, as the thousands who come here from almost every nation & who are so dis-similar in their habits & occupation fully testify; and though we are eminently an agricultural people there is a demand here for talent of almost every description.

I would respectfully call your attention to the words of the Saviour:-- "Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you." (See par. Luke 12. Chap: 22. Verse)

Praying continually for the honest in heart that they may be brought to a knowledge of the truth.

I remain,
Yours very respectfully

Brigham Young
