Dear Son:-

Yesterday I wrote to you giving all the current news, which I directed to Canfield's & this morning I received your welcome favor from Philadelphia

It will not be neccessary for you to negotiate further at present for Iron & Rolling Stock till we see how matters shape; at the same time I would like you to get all the information you possibly can as to price &c. but not to close any contract, for we may perhaps arrange for material with the U.P. Co. as events may determine.

No time will be lost in prosecuting the work on the Utah Central as soon as Bro. Fox can get started thereon.

It will be advisable for you to come home even if you should have to return, as we can together & arrange matters more satisfactorily and understandingly than by writing.

I do not start for the Cotton country to morrow as I expected, but will I think on Wednesday. A letter from Wells Fargo & Co. agent San Bernardino to their office here states that Bro. Franklin D. Woolley was killed by Indians on his return home, the report needs confirmation, but it appears to be authentic.
