Elder Atkinson,
Bountiful.

Dear Bro:--

It is necessary for the business of the U.C.R.R. to have a portion of land on each side of the track for the purpose of making switches -- fencing -- the erection of Warehouses &c. We wish you therefore to exert your influence among the people of your ward, who own the land over which the Railroad runs to furnish the Company proper titles to this land. A strip about 100 ft. wide -- or 50 ft. on each side of the track is considered sufficient for ordinary purposes, but for Switch & Station purposes, it will necessarily require more, probably not less than 150 ft on one side of the track & 50 ft on the other. & as long as circumstances may require.

We would be pleased to have you give this your immediate attention, & report as early as possible.

Your brother in the Gospel.
