Elder H. S. Eldredge

Dear Bro:-

We trust this will find you in the enjoyment of good health & that you may be successful in the consummation of your business.

To-day we wrote to Bro. Carrington, informing him that early in May you would reach Liverpool to take charge of the Emigration & that he would then be released to return home.

As the time approaches for the payment by the U. P. R. R. Co. of their first note due me Feb. 9. I feel interested concerning it, & shall he pleased to learn that it has been paid when presented.

On Tuesday night our first new locomotive reached this city -- the other two, I understand have started.

Bishop Sharp effected an amicable settlement with Hussey, Dahler & Co. & now proceeds to Cal. to attempt an adjustment of the C.P.R.R. indebtedness to Benson, Farr & West.

We trust that nothing will transpire in your business to prevent your returning home in good season to prepare for your mission to England. We intend starting for Dixie soon after the adjournment of the Legislature -- early in March -- & may perhaps adjourn our April Conference for about one month.

We shall be pleased to hear from you concerning the Note, & any other items of interest that may present themselves.

May peace be with you, and success attend your labors.

Your Bro. in the Gospel

Brigham Young

P. S. I am just informed by Orson Arnold -- the Prest. intends starting about the 23rd inst. if the weather permits.
