Dear Bro:-

Yours of 13th inst. with enclosed letter from Mr. Hempstead to you concerning certain land claims in Jackson County has been received.

We frequently receive letters of this import from lawyers & others in the east but we decline having anything to do with them on the subject. And so in this instance, my advice to you, would be to thank Mr. Hempstead for his courtesy, but decline taking any steps in the matter at present.
