Dear Sir:-

Yours of Feb. 11. was duly received. Prest. B. Young is from home on a somewhat lengthy tour, & your wish to obtain from him his religious ideas concerning death & the future cannot at present be gratified. I will say however that our views are identical with the religion of the Old & New Testaments. We believe in a literal resurrection; that men will be punished for their own sins & not for Adam's transgression; that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws & ordinances of the Gospel; that these ordinances are Faith in Jesus Christ; Repentance; Baptism by immersion for the remission of Sins; & the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel & in the restoration of the ten tribes. That Zion will be built upon this continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth & that the earth will be renewed & receive its paradisaic glory. And we claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our consciences & allow all men the same privilege. let them worship how, where, or what they please. In short, we believe all that God has revealed, all that he does now reveal, and we believe that he will yet reveal many great and important truths pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

It is impossible, in a brief letter, to do anything like justice to this subject, therefore, I will not attempt it, but will respectfully refer you to any of our Elders travelling in your neighbourhood, who, I am sure will take pleasure in answering your questions.

There are many works published explanatory of our doctrines, some of which you might do well to peruse, as for instance "Key to Theology" price $1.00 "Voice of Warning" 75¢. "O. Pratt's Works" $1.25. "Answers to Questions" &c. treating on "Plurality of Wives" & a variety of topics 50¢. these are for sale at the "Deseret News" Office. S.L. City. & may be sent you by post on receipt of amount with a trifle for postage, or direct to this office & will take pleasure in forwarding.

Yours with respect
Daniel H Wells
