Dear Sir:-

Yours of the 24th. ult has been received. Prest. Young is from home & has left me to attend to his correspondence, as you wish to know something of our doctrines, I will briefly say, they are identical with those taught in the Old & New Testaments. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins & not for the transgression of Adam; that through the atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws & ordinances of the Gospel; that these are, Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, & the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel & in the restoration of the ten tribes; that Zion will be built upon this continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth & that the earth will be renewed & receive its paradisaic glory. And we claim the privilege of worshipping Almighty God according to the dictates of our consciences & allow all men the same privilege let them worship how, where, or what they please. In short, we believe all that God has revealed, all that he does now reveal, and we believe that he will yet reveal many great and important truths pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

For further information I would respectfully refer you to any of our Elders travelling in your section,

respectfully,
Daniel H Wells
