Dear Sir:--

At the request of President Brigham Young -- since gone south on a lengthy tour -- I endeavoured to procure for you a copy of "Mormon Emigrant Guide Book." The publisher Mr. Wm. Clayton has been very sick but I have seen him since his recovery & I regret to say he has not a single copy neither does he know who has. I found the original manuscript however, on file in the "Historian's Office" & if not yet too late, & the subject is of sufficient importance, you can obtain an extract therefrom & have it attested.
