Dear Brother:-

Elder Jno T. Caine has been selected to take down to Washington the proceedings of the Mass meeting held on Thursday last. He will remain awhile to assist you with, I trust, some efficient aid, by forming public opinion through the press and otherwise, not only in paving the way towards the defeat of the iniquitous bill in the Senate, but also in the matter of our admission as a State into the Union. He can more fully explain to you than I shall be able to write. I can only say that the matter was referred to President Young who directed me to counsel with the brethren, and I have acted in accordance therewith.

Trusting and believing that all things will work together for good

I remain as ever,
Your brother in the Gospel

Daniel H Wells
