My dear Mr Gardner, -

Our Mr Erickson made the map, but it was found faulty in respect of the location of the Lake &c, and our Mr. Fox is directed to make another. I will do all that I can to hurry him & hope that you will not give it up in disgust at our slowness.

President Young will be up -- I mean home in two days and will show him your letters when perhaps he may be able to get your wishes attended to without delay.

We have not had an observation for some 3 months; but will get a going again before long. I am exceedingly obliged to you for the instruction you gave me in the use of the transit. it is such a relief to my eyes over that terrible Sextant and quicksilver! to say nothing of the accuracy of the transit.

How about the Cullom bill -- please write me if you can find the opportunity.

Yours Truly
T.W. Ellerbeck
