Instructions for Elder H.S. Eldredge.

Salt Lake City,
11 May 1870

Elder H.S. Eldredge

Dear Brother;-

You are hereby authorized and appointed to proceed to Liverpool, England to relieve President Albert Carrington in the presidency of the European Mission, and to take the charge and presidency thereof in his stead, and to control, counsel and advise the Elders and Saints associated with that mission in such manner as the Holy Spirit may inspire, and advices from us, time to time, may direct, for the salvation of the human family, the gathering of the saints & the upbuilding of the kingdom of God.

It will be wisdom for you to travel and preach considerably amongst the conferences and where you find the climate of any particular district does not agree with any elder remove him to <a> more favorable field of labor, and if necessary send such home.

That you may be constantly guided by the Spirit of the Lord in all your labors, be a father and a blessing to the people over whom you are sent to preside, and a (true?) instrument in the hands of the Lord of doing a great work in the midst of the nations

Is the Prayer of your Brethren.
