The bearer of this, Dr. Edward Palmer, M.D. a gentleman sent out by the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. is about to undertake a scientific exploration of Northern Arizona and the country contiguous, and purposes making your city his point of outfit and organization

You will please render Dr Palmer all the aid, and afford him all the information in your power to enable him to accomplish this purpose, or any other tending to the successful prosecution of this enterprise
