Dear Sir. President Young is now absent from home, but in reply to your favor of 31st ult permit me to say that we have, as yet, observed no marked difference in the ratio of male and female births in plural families, from those families where a man has but one wife. In some of the families of those who have the greatest number of children there is a majority of girls, in others of boys. The principle of a plurality of wives has been practiced by the Latter-day Saints for so short a period & under such peculiar circumstances, that at this early day, no just estimate can be formed from their experience.

Very Respectfully yours
G. Reynolds Clerk to Prest Young
