Elder Philemon C. Merrill
Rich Co.

Dear Brother:
We expect that Captain W.H. Hooper will be at Soda Springs next week, accompanied by a surveyor to take possession of the property handed over to bro. Hooper and myself by Mr Alex. Majors. I should be pleased for you to be there at the time to make arrangements for brethren to occupy the land in that section. I am desirous that every available spot should be taken up by the brethren, and secured at once; and if there be those in Rich County, who would occupy the country there for a time, who do not feel to reside permanently, I should like them to do so, until the brethren from this city are prepared to go.

Bro John Tippets, of Farmington will take charge of my portion of the property handed over by Mr Majors

Your Brother in the Gospel
Brigham Young

P.S. I have written to Elder C.C. Rich on the subject, and have talked with bro. Budge in relation thereto. Bro Budge will be the bearer of this note to you.
