Hon. William H. Seward.
San Francisco.

Dear Sir:
It affords me much pleasure to forward you a few photographs of myself and family, some of whom you will doubtless recognize, as you formed the acquaintance of Mrs Lucy D. Young, Mrs. N.T. Young, Miss Nabbie and Miss Phebe Young. But those you did not see, whose portraits are enclosed, are Mrs Zina D. Young, my married daughters -- Mrs. Alice Clawson, Mrs Zina Williams, Mrs Fanny Thatcher, my younger daughters Josephene and Mrian and my son Willard. As these are family portraits, you will do me a personal favor by retaining them in your own possession; I should particulary object to them going into the hands of an artist to be copied.

I am also pleased to be enabled to enclose letters of introduction from Dr. J.P.M. Meeik, now of this city, but formerly of Calcutta; and long and favorably known amongst the leading circles of society in British India. These letters are addressed to the Hon. Sir Rd Temple and Hon. V.H, Scalch.

I also enclose letters of introduction to gentlemen who have met me in my Office, when making the trip "across the continent."

Permit me in closing to wish yourself and friends much and satisfaction in your long and interesting journey and the [illegible] and a safe and happy return to your family and friends at home; and let me here add the expression of my hope, that I shall have the pleasure at no distant day of greeting you once again in the valleys of Utah.

I remain, My dear Sir,
Yours Most Sincerely.
Brigham Young
