President's Office,
Salt Lake City, Sept. 6. 1870.

Bp Herrick
Ogden

I telegraphed you yesterday asking you to let me know who it was that ordered the tithing wheat at Ogden shipped by Railroad to this city, but have received no reply. I therefore wish to inform you why I telegraphed about it. It is because bills of said freight are presented to me by the collector of said Railroad calling for payment thereof in greenbacks, and I cannot in justice to other claims and claimants possibly raise the money, and inasmuch as said wheat could be disposed of, in all probability, at Ogden, if it was safely stored & this office duly advised, as it should be, of what amount of wheat is on hand, to considerable advantage, there is no necessity to run up a cash indebtedness to transport it hither. At all events without you have received orders direct from Prest B. Young, you should hold it till you receive further instructions

By directions of Bishop Edd Hunter.
